    Listening to this SOS call on the radio, comes the impression that navigation in the mid-90s was at stone age levels - why couldn’t other large ships see such a large ship as Estonia on their radar? Or is the whole point that the power on the Estonia already turned off and along with it the positioning transmitter stopped working?

    This might be a bit late, but you're confusing Stállu and čuđit. Stállu is a giant, cannibalistic human like creature, a lot like the "troll" of Norwegian folklore. The čuđit/čuđet are people who came to our lands to steal and were otherwise very violent. As the Sámis back In the day we're taxed by three separate nations, it's not very unlikely that this might have been understood and felt like as stealing and pillaging. We have a lot of surviving oral stories about how they used to trick the čuđet to get rid of them, a lot of them pretty sneaky if you ask me 😅

    For many finn it is like a dream to have home on a country side. Have a little field and grow your own potatoes and some other veggies as well. Maybe a little hen house at the yard where you can get your own fresh eggs. At least as i were a child, i had these dreams. Well now that i am over 40 i´m not sure would i like that so much anymore. There is some good sides for living in bigger city like here in Tampere. But if i ever do that, i sell all my things and move to Moldova to do that. Better climate, peacful place and way less tehcnology. That would also be cheap place to live.

    If you throw water on hot iron the "löyly" is just terrible. Most old electric sauna stoves have more hot metal than rocks so it is bad. So more stones = better löyly, and smoke saunas have only stone. The stove it self is made out of brick or stone, one i have been in the stove was made out of well rings.

    I really appreciate your videos on Finnish mythology/folklore! I am from Canada and I recently did a DNA test and found out that I am Finnish! I am a very spiritual person and never knew where my ancestors came from. I have been diving deep into Finnish spirituality and paganism and it all clicks for me! So many things in their beliefs is how I already felt inside. I haven't had to change any of my personal beliefs to fit in with Finnish paganism, it was already there and I had no idea! So yeah that is my rant 😆 love and appreciate your videos!

    The cultural indoctrination reigns heavy. The SS was not supposed to be a "weird inverted version" of the Knights of the Round Table. It was supposed to be a straight up honorable order. This myth about purposefully evil actions by the SS is a fabrication. The documents and teachings that were given to the SS are publicly available if shunned for not reflecting the (errrr) "Allied" narrative. Look for Edwige Thibaut's book on this.

    • @duhni4551
      @duhni4551 5 дней назад

      It is not about what it supposed to be, it is about what it really became and that was quite far from anything honorable. Which is also well documented by them selves. I mean communism was beautiful idea but the reality of it was quite the opposite. Good intentions and all that.

    I moved from the quaint town of Kitee to the vibrant city of Kuopio and then to the bustling metropolis of Helsinki. Now, I reside in the lively Helsinki metropolitan area. Kitee was always too small and quiet for my liking. In Kuopio, I enjoyed living in a larger, more dynamic city and initially thought I would only visit Helsinki as a tourist. However, one day, I unexpectedly decided to move to Helsinki and found that I loved living there too. The city offers so much more than the serene countryside or smaller towns, and the convenience of a nearby airport for quick international travel is fantastic. Lately, I've come to deeply appreciate the peaceful countryside and tranquil forests, where I can relax, walk through nature, listen to the melodious birdsong, and breathe in the fresh, earthy scents of the woods. Both lifestyles have their unique advantages, and the people are wonderfully different. You can adapt to anything if you're flexible. Currently, I live close to the serene forest yet still near the bustling city, enjoying the best of both worlds. By the way, the "Rallienglanti" video was fantastic and reminds me a lot of my own English, I guess. 😂

    The Finnish word is an old loan word either from a baltic or indo iranian source, I forgot which. So its similarity to the latin word for god, Deus is not coincidental. Linguistics sound very esoteric but it's just words exchanged by normal people living next to each other.

    Finland belonged to Sweden in 1600's, when Sweden recruited our Finland's men to be their cavalry. That cavalry was truly a force to be reckoned with in the big war in that time in Europe, and made a big impact. Hakkapeliitat cavalry. Also, we in Finland, right after gaining our independence, fought a hard and bloody civil war, showing our warrior spirit to our own brothers and sisters. Then, Russia attacked us in WW2 20 years after, and they were drawn back with massive losses and gained only a bit of land and some stuff from us. Finland is no weak nation, we have this quiet warrior spirit who speaks little and lets the enemy land the first strike, so we know. Then the enemy better prepare. For they face us.

    I play Carolan on my 15-string FolkCraft kantele. The sound hole is a solar cross. After 25 years or more, the tone is exquisite. I don't know any of the traditional repertoire, alas. More music and info. is available now thanks to the Internet. I fell in love with this instrument at Lark in the Morning, a huge music shop in SF that allowed people to play all the floor models. I believe Lark is online now. Tour buses would stop at Lark, it was so fabulous. I miss old SF.
